“Gathered and Scattered” describes our approach to local outreach. Our goal is that the members of Faith Covenant Church would participate in God’s mission of redemption by forming relationships with unbelievers and sharing the gospel with them. We seek to accomplish this goal in two ways: as the church gathered, and the church scattered.
As the church gathered, we come together for corporate worship, discipleship, and fellowship. These venues provide the nourishment, training, and accountability needed to be ambassadors for Christ. Pastors and elders feed the flock, and equip the saints for the work of ministry. God’s people walk beside one another, and provide mutual encouragement and accountability in the task of spreading the gospel.
As the church scattered, Christ sends us out to be His ambassadors. Be it at work, in the community, or wherever God has placed us, we represent Him through our actions. We incarnate the love of Christ by forming authentic relationships with unbelievers and praying for them. And as God opens doors, we winsomely share the gospel with our friends.
Then we come back together as the church gathered to augment and support our ministry. We invite our unbelieving friends to church, so that they can hear the gospel preached and encounter the presence of God. Through fellowship, unbelievers experience the community of God’s people, and see the love of God in the way we treat each other.
God’s plan to redeem the world includes a meaningful role for His people. As the church gathered and scattered, we seek to be faithful to that calling. By His blood, Jesus Christ has redeemed us from the misery of sin and death. Now he sends us out into a lost and perishing world to be His agents of redemption.
